Game 1 In The Books

The Vernon Vipers and Powell River Kings took the ice for game one of the BCHL Fred Page Cup Championship Finals on Friday night and it was a close battle between two very strong teams that saw the Vipers win 2-1. The Vipers got on the score board first at the 12:49 mark in the first period thanks to a power play goal by Kellen Jones. In the second period there would be no points added to the score board for either team and it would be until the late in the third that Connor Jones would put the Vipers up 2-0. It was a short lived 2 goal lead as Powell River would come within one not even two minutes later. The close fought game was battled right to the end with Powell River pulling their goalie for an extra attacker but Graeme Gordon was strong in net for the Vipers and the Snakes were able to take the first game 2-1.

Game 2 goes Saturday night...same time same place and it should be another nail bitter with two teams stacked defensively and offensively.
